A group of 7-8 boys aged between 10-12 were scaring each other by lighting a match stick in front of a bottle of spray/perfume and some girls nearby were sitting sincerely under the sun dropping their heads into the textbooks. I woke up that morning and sat across the window to have a flashback of my own childhood. “Deshek home stay” in Kibber, (Deshek, being the name of adorable kid) had a govt school in front of it.

Spiti Series – Day 3 : Happily Tanned and Spiti-fied!

Stunning mountain shades, the graveled uneven roads, landscapes that looks unreal and sparkling Spiti river running parallel, the journey was something Isha and I will never forget. This morning when I knocked Isha’s door, I found her staring the perennial snow on those far away peaks from her window. She turned and said, “I was settled but restless until this morning. The silence of these mountains speak.” The lamas were praying at the monastery and we could hear them humming the sacred mantras. She got her answers staring at those dramatic mountain sceneries. We decided to visit the crowd-less monasteries and get closer to the vibrant Buddhist culture.

A sunny morning was on the top of my immediate wish list and Kaza did me the kind favor. I opened the window of my room and could feel the early rays of pure sunshine drenching over my aching skin. It gave me energy, the healing one. It felt like Kaza was a desired paradise and I just needed to see the nymphs dance.

Mornings are blissful in general but when you are at Chandrataal, they are a rare blessing. Even the considerable drop in temperature dint allows us to stay inside. It’s a wall painting out there which we admire in our daily lives and often are forced to think if such a piece of perfection exists in the living world out there. And then one fine day, the painting comes to reality and you immerse your soul in the sweet nector and enjoy every bit of it. And that’s the way my morning at Chandrataal was!
