Valley of flowers is a mesmerizing trekking trivia in Uttarakhand which puts on display the millions of species of flowers such as saxifrags, sediams, lilies, poppy, calendular, daisies, geranium, zinnia, petunia, blue primula and much more.
There are different stories about the place which locals tell about. Some of them go as follows:
1) Some local inhabitants believe that the Valley of Flowers is resided by fairies who don’t like any human venturing into their land so far and hence they carry off anyone who crosses into their domain.
2) Also, according to Hindu mythology, the valley is known as `Nandankanan’ and it was created when the gods showered flowers down on earth.
3) One more version of the story tells that Valley of Flowers is the area where Lord Hanuman came to collect “Sanjeevani” herb to revive Lakshman when he was dying in the war with Ravana, according to Ramayana.
