Staring forcibly at the computer screens for 5 consecutive days of a week and earning a living, this does not sound like doing justice to our well deserved lives! And this was the making of our weekend getaway to Jim Corbett.
Starting at 5PM on a Friday evening, we were 9 friends who started their journey and spent 6 hours just to cross Delhi. The reasons are obvious, yet funny. Buying liquor was the foremost and prime concern to spend a lovely weekend and we traversed whole NCR to have a look at the wider range before buying. Second obvious reason was the tightly coupled traffic.
Luckily, we had a smooth journey afterwards and reached Corbett around 2:30AM. While on the way to resort, we enjoyed the early morning safari experience when a herd of deer passed through the silent forest road and a blue bull (nilgai).
We had an early morning booking for safari for which we needed to get up at 5:30 but who knows what the hell time is when some of us have just slept 20 minutes before. Fortunately, we had a wanderer with us who could not afford missing the one and only exquisite activity of Jim Corbett. After a bit of pillow fights and arguments, we were all set to go through the forest ride.
And the safari was a bliss! Though we were not fortunate enough to spot any animal (except a snake and footprints of tiger) but the open jeep ride through the forest roads, the green and clean aura ,the cold yet soothing breeze crossing the face and the butter smooth road drive, a whole sleepless night was worth it.
We returned to our resort, had a bellyful breakfast. Actually, we had little more than bellyful because we needed to change the resort after this and the lunch was not included in the other one (helpless we). After clicking some pictures and blabbering endlessly, we shifted to Golden Tusk, another heaven on Earth.
The luxurious tents we did the booking for, were more of a dream house. Afterwards, there was no stopping us from exhausting all the included services we had paid for. Playing handball in pool, munching the crisps and snacks, playing every single game in the entertainment area, reliving childhood days by playing cricket and playing cards, every single thing was so much fun.
The sun settled and we did too, in our temporary dream houses, to start the daaru party. Initially, we played bluff but slowly when liquor effects took over, no one even remembered where the hell we were vacationing!
The morning sun on the open large green spaces was just there to bless us with peace and calm. One of the creative minds among us carved a beautiful tiara out of white fresh flowers, a masterpiece!
Soon after satisfying our gluttony with an amazing breakfast buffet, we started our journey back to home. One another week of glaring at the screens was yet to begin and we needed some time to bring ourselves back to the meaningless lives.
